Each year, hundreds of attorneys participate in one of the largest lobby days at the Massachusetts State House. Their goal is to urge lawmakers to protect state funding for programs that provide civil legal aid to low-income Massachusetts residents.
Walk to the Hill 2018

The EJC’s legislative funding campaign calls on state lawmakers to adequately fund the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation (MLAC) line item in the Fiscal Year 2019 state budget.
Highlights from this year’s Walk to the Hill
At the 19th Annual Walk to the Hill for Civil Legal Aid in 2018, nearly 700 attorneys heard from various speakers, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court and the presidents of the Massachusetts and Boston Bar Associations, about the critical role that civil legal aid plays in ensuring equal access to justice. Attorneys then visited their state Senators and Representatives to encourage them to provide $23 million in funding for civil legal aid in the fiscal year 2019 Massachusetts state budget.
