In the only initiative of its kind in the country, some of the most prominent representatives of the Massachusetts legal community are joining together again this year to urge Governor Patrick and the legislature to increase funding for the civil legal aid line item in the Commonwealth’s FY13 budget.
General Counsel Letter
General counsel from 81 corporations and institutions in Massachusetts delivered a letter to Governor Patrick and members of the Legislature. Key signatories include the top attorneys from General Electric, Fidelity Investments, Liberty Mutual Group, Bose, John Hancock Financial Services, and Verizon. Copies were sent to all Senators and Representatives.
Managing Partners Letter
Thirty-seven managing partners representing 35 Massachusetts law firms delivered letters to the Governor and the Legislature, urging them to increase funding for the civil legal aid line item.
Law School Deans Letter
The deans of eight Massachusetts law schools delivered a letter to Governor Patrick and members of the Legislature, explaining that an increase in civil legal aid funding is necessary to improve access to justice in the Commonwealth.
